Anita Taylor (b1961) studied at Mid-Cheshire College of Art (1980-81), Gloucestershire College of Art (1981-84) and the Royal College of Art (1985-87). She was Artist-in-Residence at Durham Cathedral (1987-88); Cheltenham Fellow in Painting (1988-89); Visiting Fellow in Drawing at the National Art School Sydney (2004).

Solo exhibitions include Drawings, Durham University (1987), An Artist-in-Residence at Durham Cathedral 1987-88, Durham Museum and Art Gallery (1988); Anita Taylor - Paintings, Berkeley Square Gallery, London (1989); Playing the Muse, Lanchester Gallery, Coventry (1991). Other exhibitions include Naked, Royal West of England Academy, Bristol (2004); The Female Line, Sherborne House (2002); Mindscape, Cavanacor Gallery, Co. Donegal, Rep.Ireland (2001); Marking Presence, ArtsSway (1997); Furies (with Judy Inglis), Midlands Art Centre (1997); Histories, Atria Art Centre, Annecy, France (1997); Affinities, Kunstlerhaus, Gottingen, Germany; Islington Arts Factory, London; Congress Centre, Annecy, France (1995-6); Pictures at an Exhibition, Northern Centre for Contemporary Art, Sunderland; St Davids Hall, Cardiff; Victoria Art Gallery, Bath; Royal Festival Hall, London (1994); Cleveland International Drawing Biennale, Middlesbrough and tours (1993,1989).

Awards include the Malvern Award for Drawing 1993; Drawing Award, Hunting Art Prizes 1999; Major Award, Cheltenham Open Drawing 1999; and First Prize, Hunting Art Prizes 2000. Her work is held in private and public collections in the UK and Australia.

Anita is Vice Principal and Professor of Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art. She is the director of The Jerwood Drawing Prize, founded in 1994. Publications include Foundation Course Drawing, Cassell Illustrated 2003. She currently lives and works in Gloucestershire and London.
